Childcare Provider FAQs

I’ve had bad experiences with families through agencies. How is this different?

Unlike other agencies, we don’t just work with anyone who wants to pay us. We build Dream Teams between parents and childcare providers. We’re just as selective with our families as we are with you. If we wouldn’t want to work for someone ourselves – we won’t send you to them either!

Are the families screened?

Unlike babysitting apps or submitting random applications online, we have met and spoke to every single parent who works with us. This relationship-building helps ensure your safety and makes sure that we’re only sending you to kind, communicative families.

Do you take a percentage of what I make?

We don’t take any money off the top of what the family pays you, and we also fight to get you competitive rates. Many NYC sitter referral sites force sitters to work for way below market rate and/or they  take a percentage of what you make for each booking.

We do charge a $17 fee to cover background check processing, but having this background check makes applicants much more desirable to families. We’re happy to share a copy of the report for you so that you can use it for other opportunities as well.

Do I have to pay a fee for nanny placement?

Nope! Our families pay a placement fee.

What is your interview process like?
  • Complete the registration form (add you typical availability, it’s okay if it changes).
  • Qualified applicants will be emailed a link to the International Nanny Association’s Skills Assessment test, which shouldn’t take won’t take more than 30-mins to finish. To move on to the next round of the application process, you must score at least 70% on this test. It you need a reasonable accommodation for a disability or need the material in a different language, please contact us.
  • Applicants will have a quick 15-minute phone screen interview so we can learn more about you and what you’re looking for.
  • Final round applicants will be interviewed in-person. During this interview, we’ll get to know you better, learn more about the types of families you want to work with, your typical availability, and walk you through the systems that we use to connect you with NYC’s Best Families.

Once the interview process is complete, we’ll contact your references and run a background check.

CHILDCARE PROVIDER POLICIES

By applying to work with us you agree to abide by the following policies:

– Childcare providers are not employees or independent contractors of Dream Nanny LLC.

– You are prohibited from working with families we connect you to outside of our platform. If a parent contacts you without going through us, please remind them to book using our membership site. If you work with our families behind our back you will be out of the network and will lose access to other amazing families.

– Any information, resources, and procedures of Dream Nanny LLC are confidential and should not be re-purposed without permission.

– We have a 2 strikes policy for lateness, after that you will be removed from our network

– No alcohol, drugs, vapes, cigarettes etc shall be used while you’re with children or in a family’s home. Yep, even if a parent offers you a glass of wine – you’re there to work, not socialize.

– No personal guests should be permitted into a family’s home without prior permission

– Many of the families we work with are high-profile or very discreet. Posting pictures or information about them or their children on social media without permission is prohibited.

– Unless you’re talking to the parent or otherwise scheduling something related to your current booking, please do not use your cell-phone (or any other device) while the children are awake. You’re there to engage with the child, not scroll through Insta.

– If you’re out with a child, do not under any circumstances use your phone while crossing the street. This is a strict policy, and if we hear (or see) that it’s been violated, you will be removed from our network immediately.

– You should keep the areas of the home that the kids are using tidy (e.g. if its used while you’re there, make sure it gets put away)

Dream Nanny LLC has the right to end the relationship with any Childcare Provider for any reason without advance notice. Any outstanding fees owed to the agency will be charged to the card on file. Your membership will be cancelled and not charged after outstanding fees are collected. Not adhering to our policies, including working with our families outside of our site, may result in a probationary period, after which point we may end the relationship permanently.

As a childcare provider under New York State law, you must report any child abuse or neglect you witness. To report abuse, you should contact the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment: 1-800-342-3720.

If, for some reason, you’re not sure if what you’ve witnessed is abuse or a sign of abuse, please speak to us. If you or a child are in immediate danger, call 911.
